Plasm Will Bring MetaMask To Polkadot for the First Time

Plasm Network, a popular decentralized application (dApp) from Polkadot, has announced that it will integrate MetaMask into the ecosystem soon.

The project reveals that Ethereum users will have the ability to create their own Polkadot address from their existing ETH key. Plasm Network shared the news in a Twitter post on January 8.

Is Polkadot on the brink of a vast expansion? According to one leading dApp, it seems that users will soon gain access to MetaMask.

Moreover, they will also have the ability to create new Polkadot addresses using their existing MetaMask accounts. Thus, the integration would lead to higher adoption levels of Ethereum’s competing smart contract and dApp ecosystem.

At the time of writing, Plasm did not yet reveal when the community can expect the integration to launch.

Reacting to the announcement, we saw great delight from the community. The level of engagement on Plasm’s tweet indicates great interest in using MetaMask to interact with the Polkadot network.

If we truly see more users adopt Polkadot or the DOT token because of the integration, it is possible for the smart contract ecosystem to truly rival Ethereum.

Plasm Network represents a highly important part of the Polkadot protocol. It is the leading hub for decentralized applications on the network.

Furthermore, the project supports not only Ethereum but various other technical improvements such as ZK Rollups and Optimistic rollups as well.

Since the start of the year, Plasm has announced many updates and partnerships. For example, the project has partnered with ZenLink, a cross-chain DEX protocol, this week. Their developers are also working on creating and becoming the first parachain on Polkadot.

Polkadot will soon have a rebrand

The protocol’s main dApp hub is not the only team of developers working hard on improving the network. Per the Polkadot team, the DOT community will soon see a brand new rebrand of the platform. Developers have hired Koto, a design agency, to revise their token icon, typography, messaging, and many other features.

The Koto company agreed to accept DOT tokens for their work. For their rebrand job, the designers will interact and rely on the Polkadot community. All key decisions will be approved by community members via the protocol’s governance model.

In an interview for major crypto news platform Decrypt, the head of public affairs at Polkadot Peter Maurice stated:

“Polkadot’s social contract is clear: changes to the network must be approved through its governance system, and that doesn’t just refer to code…Brand identity and direction are crucially important elements to a growing network like Polkadot, so it was never in doubt that these efforts would need to be led, funded, and approved by the community.”

We also note that the DOT token itself holds onto its new ATH quite well. At the time of writing, the token ranges between $8.95 and $9.54.

While the cryptocurrency has dumped ever since, reaching a high at $10.6, we still see strong support. If bullish investors are still interested in this digital asset, DOT might soon bounce and attempt to reach higher highs.
